cool DX on the air this weekend!

Rare, semi-rare and fun DX on-the-air this weekend and the following week! ..."This Weekend's DX!" is updated every Friday at 0200 UTC (10PM Eastern Thursdays)

This Weekend's DX! - Friday May 22, 2015 01:00 UTC

Last word (HA!) on the Mt. Athos tragicomedy...

A week ago today the DX world was buzzing with big news about the SV2 / Mt. Athos operation. The DXpedition that never was. Ready-fire-aim...  I'm kinda surprised that a few pirates or slims nearby to Mt. Athosville didn't get on the air with the SV2/YL7A call sign and create even more fun!

Meanwhile, rumors persist that the up police and DQRM'ers were especially angry with this botched op and are refusing to come out of their rooms. Or their parent's basements. Whatever. As expected, they are promising payback and I'm certain that they will make their presence known when Chesterfield, Heard and Bouvet go live...

5Z0L DXpedition to KenyaHopefully the Latvian's efforts won't spoil any future chances of operations from Mt. Athos. And thankfully, the forum chatter nonsense about deleting this entity is slowly starting to fade away...until next time anyway.

Seriously folks, DXCC is a game, like Monopoly - someone else makes the rules and we all play by 'em.

Coming to a frequency near you this weekend...

Onto this week! Today I'll be covering new ops in Kenya, Jamaica, Grenada, Market Reef, Iceland, the Cayman's and St. Martin.

The E6 - Niue DXpedition continues to be active and is featured in a separate CallingDX web page here.

Besides the new DX covered in today's update, the OX/5P1KXZ, E51DLD, E51VFT, SV5/SM7EQL, P40CD, P40FN, P40FY, ZF2EM and XT2AW operations from last week are all still active. Some will be QRV for another 3 or 4 days. Review their operational details in the May 15th edition of "This Weekend's DX!"  I will also list them on this page following this week's new DX listings.

As you scroll down the page you will see links to help you find, work and QSL the DX operations that are planned for this weekend.

If you'd like to do a "Mega" search and have a simultaneous spotting report - updated in real time - of every call sign featured in "This Weekend's DX!" - Click here for the "MEGA-Spot"  (Courtesy of DX Summit).

Next weekend (May 30-31) is the is the CQ WW WPX CW Contest. I'll also be covering the VK9 (Lord Howe Island) - 5U (Niger) - XT2 (Burkina Faso) - 9H3 (Malta) -  T32 (Eastern Kiribati) and OX (Greenland) DX activations.

Remember to check back here often for "flash" bulletins plus our scheduled weekly update every Friday between 0000 and 02:00 UTC - which is Thursday evenings in North America and early Friday mornings in Europe.
